The end of an era...

My life as a uni student is over once again. Last Saturday I finished my final exam of my business post graduate diploma. YAY. I can say that my first emotion was that of relieve that lead to excitment and now a week on I am still buzzing a little bit. It is so nice to have my nights and weekends back again. No more readings, assignments, tests and exams that used to cloud over me. I can now come home from work and relax. Although every time I go into the kitchen I see the painting I need to complete which I will need to do in the coming weeks. But this weekend I will enjoy.

In starting this diploma last March and now complete in June, 1 and a 1/4 years worth of work. It makes me think of how little I did at uni the first time round. This diploma would have been a 1 year full time course. Sure they give you 4 semesters instead of 2 which definitely helps you tick over the papers quickly with only 1 week holiday between each semester. But could my 3 year BSC been completed in 2 years by giving us more than 2 semesters a year? What about 3 per year. That would still give you at least 10 weeks of holidays a year. That sounds a whole lot when all I get now is 3. Although looking forward to that becoming 4 next year with the new law. Or do we actually need 3 years to grow up from our immature existence of coming straight from school and learn a bit about the world we have been so sheltered from before we enter the world of work! I sometimes look back and think I could have done with a few more years at uni.

Now that I have finished, I will again need to sit down and look at what the next challenge in my life will be. I don't have any clue at the moment but I know another challenge is not far away. But for this weekend, it is a time of celebration of not doing any study. So go on and love your family and friends, for from the words of Mozart this is the soul of a genius . Neither a lofty degree of intelligence nor imagination nor both together go to the making of genius. Love, love, love, that is the soul of genius.
